I played mine last night. I thought "this thing really is one seriously classy drum". People say the wood dynas don't sound that great. Well, mine oozes mojo. Seriously. I love it and it was worth every cent. Hope you find one in a dumpster (in a case of course).

I paid $2K for mine. It sounds, looks and plays great. It's a mid-'60s Silver Sparkle 5 x 14. Look around on eBay; there were two the last time I checked, but they were pricier than mine. You can get one from the '70s for cheaper, but they don't sound as good and aren't worth nearly as much as a collector's piece.

You might want to post in the 'wanted to buy' or 'trade' sections of this forum.

I know where I can get a clone, a keller shell with original Rogers hardware in a silver glass glitter finish. You can't tell the difference unless you look at the interior of the shell. It's a beautiful snare for a fraction of the price, thanks.

First of all, I love Rogers. This is a drum that is definitely on my bucket list. I do own seven of the late issue Big R maple Dynasonic and Superten drums. In all 23 Rogers snare drums, of which, nine are Dynasonics, from the earliest Beavertail COB to one of the last Big R maples built.

Secondly, mostly the wood Dynasonics currently on ebay are listed by the untrustworthy. You cannot afford to buy from a drum stripping hack who has offered fake drums for sale and expect to get what you are paying for. If you want a genuinely real drum, deal with Maxwell or someone you know from here or DFO or the Rogers Owners site. Avoide the drum strippers at all costs.

And, as for the clones, you get what you pay for there. A "look", but not the genuine article. I have seen very well done clones, aka..the Kelly Smith Dynasonics from several years ago. That man paid attention to detail and produced a few drums worthy of the look and the name. I got the pleasure of meeting him once before he died. My first 7 line Dynasonic came from him. Mostly though, you get a shell that is not to the same specs, edges that are different, snare beds that arent remotely close to the original, and in the end, all you have is another killed COB Dynasonic that looks like the real thing. But, it is not. There are well done clones that very closely copy the original. And there are very poorly done clones that very closely look like the original.

I want mine to be in the 3000-9000 range and will be happy to have it in Steel Gray Ripple Pearl, Red Wine Ripple Pearl, or Sparkling Blue Pearl.

I would pay extra good to get number 9560, no matter what model it is.

Wow, you would pay $3000 - $5,000 for a snare? In my opinion that's just plain nuts. Give me a decent snare and I'll make it sound great. I guess you collectors are mainly in it for the investment.

Serial Number Range..........

I dont own anything I cannot play.

Ploughman,

If it's your birthday serial number you're looking for, keep an eye out for 2258 for me. I'm still dreaming of finding a wood Dynasonic at some garage sale or pawn shop.

Do you own one that you would like to sell or maybe trade for? Color isn't a factor as I like them all.
