Looking at this 60s Ludwig red sparkle snare Last viewed: 19 hours ago

Hey look another post. Hopefully I will be able to just learn these things and quit asking you all for help, but until then...

I saw this online the other day. I have the normal red WFL snare but I've always wanted a red sparkle too.

Is the painted inside a deal breaker? It looks original but I want to ask. Would anyone be able to tell me what kinda wood it is made out of? Was there a standard to any of this? Lastly. what is this one worth in this condition? I don't want to overpay.

looks to be a red sparkle 64 pioneer. the white resacote interior looks original, especially with the date stamp present. would be a 3 ply drum. inner ply could be maple or mahogany, center poplar ply and outer is most likely mahogany but could be maple too. looks like nickel hardware. somewhere in the 150-250 range for usual selling price if no damage. hope this helps.

bump it up a 100 if its nob hoops

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

He wants $150. That seems to be on the edge of what it is worth so I think I am going to pass. If I can talk him down to $100 I would buy at that.

If I can't I will hold out for the 50s WFL one.

Thanks guys!

NOB hoops increase the value that much? I didn't know that. I picked up a minty WMP pre-serial '63 with NOB hoops over the summer for $100 (plus 2 unused Pearl cymbal stands), original case included. Great snare!

I'd say $150 is a fair price for a Pioneer in the shape it appears to be in.
