Little Help on Vintage Marching Snare Last viewed: 17 hours ago

Hello fellow collectors,

I have a question on Vintage Marching or Parade drums, either rope or metal tension. I love the way these drums look with the wood of yesteryear. I don't know anything about them, and really don't know what company to be looking for or year. I am a Slingerland junky, but have noticed a lot of other companies on EBay. Is there any web site that I can go to, in helping educate myself ? One last question, if I buy an vintage marching drum should I refinish it or leave as is?

Thanks for the time and consideration....

Old marchers are huge fun. I can't help on rope snares. As pointed out CT is the man on those. Boxed out would mean image no longer available.

Gretsch, Ludwig, and of course Slingerland made thousands. Two routes depending on budget. Many natural wood were painted over with just latex, easy to remove. Taking a chance on those.

Watch the auctions and find one you like. Missing parts can be hard to find so complete always good. Have a 15" Gretsch round badge single tension and a 15" Slingerland WMP small brass badge that just boom.

Hope you find something.

Nothing special here but I like them.

Thanks to all,

just started looking at these, they are so cool looking, some rough, some painted, some in good shape. Just wasn't sure what to be looking for. I'll keep people informed on what I find.
