Leedy Drums.... Last viewed: 20 hours ago

Hi you all,

I have a question and need some advise from the experts. I have a guy that is wanting to sell a 1946 ( he thinks ), Leedy drum set of his fathers. It has a Leedy Broadway standard snare, 9 x 14, bass, 2 ride toms, and floor tom, with I think he said, original bass pedal and hihat. It has DuCo finish. It can be seen on craigslist charlotte, music inst. site. He is asking 1000. but have gotten him down about 20%. My question, with the cost of restoring these, do you all think this would be a good deal....Thank always for your help. Bucky

I know which one your speaking of. It's up to you the tacked bottom toms and single tension bass drum don't have great resale value, I love single tension bass drums myself they are very tune able and sound great, But this is your call as to how useful it is to you,

I know, I love the bass also, just torn between the cost of restoring vs. benefit of return. I really don't think these would bring a good return and I don't plan on playing them.

If you can get them for $400.00 you'd get a return but not at that price you've mentioned.

Thanks,

That's what I was thinking, I had offered a little more than that, but he came back with a higher price, I think I am going to pass on these. As always,Thanks again, for your advise.

P.S, one more question I hope you can help me with, The Slingerland Red tiger, or Yellow tiger wrap, are they very uncommon and hard to find?

They are rare, harder to find than duco colored drums.
