Leedy Cocktail Drum Last viewed: 3 minutes ago

I have found what I believe to be a leedy cocktail drum shell. The size is 24 x 14. I couldn't find any badge or markings so I'm just going by the lugs and the head.

Can anyone confirm this is a leedy and if so, how rare is it? Does anyone here have one?

Thanks for looking!

hmmm interesting, cool find. can't wait to hear what the experts have to say. isn't that a Slingerland stick saver rim on there?

Indeed it is a COB sticksaver hoop. That is what I saw in the ad's terrible photo (worse than my pics) that made me go to check it out. It wasn't until I got there that I realized the lugs were leedy. I originally thought I had found a Slingerland cocktail drum because of the hoop and the leg mounts.

This drum has no vent, no badge, and no stamp inside. It does have a leedy diamond head.

i'm really not knowlegable enough to say exactly what it is, sorry. i'm wondering if it is a pieced together drum? the inside kinda looks Slingerland too, doesn't it? does the muffler or snare mechinism have any markings?

That drum sure looks like a SlingerLeedy cocktail drum to me. I hope that it was a bargain find of a drum project with great potential.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

As the handle suggests, Leedybdp has called it. It's a Leedy cocktail drum made by Slingerland...so it was made somewhere between 1956 and 1965. Cool drum indeed!

Thanks EMD. have been watching this thread. it is very interesting to me for some reason. I wasn't sure what the "Slingerleedy" meant and was a lit'l shy about asking.

Thanks for all the replies. Yes LeedyBDP, it was a bargain. I got it for next to nothing.

I thought that it might be a Slingerland that someone changed the lugs on. Took off the top head (very tight) and inspected the snares and muffler. They look great and everything works smoothly. No sign of any markings or date stamp.

Black paint job seems to be original. I doubt I could wrap it and still get the heads on so I might strip the paint and refinish it.

It has the Slingerland push-button leg mounts and none of the floor tom legs I have fit. I seem to remember them taking the straight, smooth legs. I may modify them.

I had a cocktail kit before but I sold it after playing one gig balanced on my left leg all night. This one I'll probably hang on to as I have never seen a vintage one before.
