Well, I've called several very reputable drum shops in Canada and the USA and from what I gather you're shooting low on these. I was offered $1200 for the snare alone. One shop offered me 3500.00 Thanks for nothing Vintage Drum Forum.

Some of the leaders in the field answered your questions......

If you'd care to offer up the names of those drum shops I have a few items I'd like to sell to them.

:)

A few possible situations here:

1. Newbee to collecting.

2. New to forums and how one should act.

3. Bought the drums high and the truth hurts.

4. In general a clueless and rude person no matter where he posts.

I think that we were all polite but truthful in responding to his post. Sometimes the truth hurts but if the guy did get those 1200.00/3500.00 offers then I say go for it. Hopefully he bought them at the correct price.

Another possibility is that the "knowb" tension drums are his first non Pearl drums, and he's accustomed to the type of talk on the Pearl enthusiast forum.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

The drums are a interesting concept. I guess they never really caught on. Where they problematic back in the day? Does anyone have a good pic of the inner workings they can post? Would the threaded rod strip or the tension arms it went into? Or both? I saw the '51 catalog scan and have the basic idea how they work. Was just curious if they really ever worked as designed and worked well? Nice kit and look well kept.

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

I'm in the same boat - needing a WMP FT to complete my kit.
