don't know if any of you saw this drum on ebay or not. got it about a week ago. happened to see it with a buy it now/make an offer option. it looked awful! it appealed to me though, as I have a few more from this era. I was also lured to it because it appeared to be complete(less one bolt), which is a big plus. its no show drum, but I really dig it. it would probably be a great candidate for some replating as the shell had no dent or scratches, but I like the way it looks. I put a ton of work into slowly getting the rust off and polishing it.didnt use any power tools on it. all done by hand. I would love to know where this thing had been sitting in the condition that it was in and for how long. it was funky!
this may be a 1916 model. its the two piece heavy nob shell. 4x14 6 lug model. these have steel hoops and steel clips. it had the original wires. they were a mess. I spent a lot of time with them, but in the end they were just too brittle to work with. I had the calf heads in my inventory as the ones that came with it were busted. what a strainer huh? it just pops up and holds into place, gently!
had thought about stripping the hoops to bare metal and clearing them or something along those lines. it would make the drum look a lot better. it kinda looks like it should now though I think. tells a story!
i'll also include the ebay link so that you can see the extra before shots. enjoy..
