Late 40's to 1950 Slingerland Radio King kit snare set w/ Trans Stamp A. Zildjian HI Last viewed: 19 hours ago

Ok.

Have been on the forum putting together info on this set. Would like to keep it all together and not part it out. Looks to have been together since birth. From a local estate

As shown and happy to answer any questions I can. If things don't look put together properly that is because I am a string player. Never put one of these together before. But I see where the term drum kit comes from now. It all came out of the black vulcanized Fibre case. Less the kick drum.

You will receive all the drum components in the photo except for the stool, which is not included.

The solid rim 5 1/2 x 14 Radio King snare, the 24" bass drum. Both in White Marine Pearl...yellowed nicely. The bass drum heads are clearly marked Radio King Calf skin. The snare is well marked Radio King. These drums do not look like they were greatly abused in their lives. Just honestly put to use and enjoyed.

A period Trans Stamp Avedis Zildjian hi hat. The cymbals weigh 1008 and 539 grams. Additional cymbals include a Zenjian at 486 grams, one marked Germany at 940 grams and a little crash with a handwritten name on it that is 261 grams. No cracks or other damage noted. Also none of the keyholing some exhibit.

The bass and the snare both appear to have mufflers attached. Leave or remove as you wish. There appear to be additional mounts and or racks on the bass but I'm unclear what may have been there.

The worst issued I can see are the broken and missing bracket on the bass drum, on the bottom front where you might expect to find this. No noted associated damage in that area. These brackets appear readily available. Also the small bit of damage to the top of the bass near the back rim. Maybe a hot coal from a long ago cigarette. They used to be cool you know. Please see the photos.

One of the belt straps on the fibre box is missing. The single belt does a nice job holding it together though.

Also included are several sticks. Some marked Rogers R 1A, MMM 28, Slingerland....., Rogers 5A, etc. The sticks aren't fantastic shape wise but came with the set.

So, what about the price? I feel that an all original set like this should command a premium. I also understand that there may be more to be had by parting it out. I am not in the vintage drum business nor do I like to cannibalize musical instruments. That being said let's see what the real value should be.

I am asking $1,250 for what I have described. I will ship by the buyers preferred delivery service but request that it is either UPS or FedEx as that is who I can reasonably get to. I have never shipped drums before so I will await the buyers instructions on packaging, etc. You may also have an idea what the shipping may cost so keep that in mind as I expect that to be a buyer's expense. Paypal would be fine for payment and I will be happy to split the 3% fee.

I usually sell things on ebay and you may see my feedback at my seller id yewpineyridge. I have been selling things there for ages. I just don't do things like this all that often because I don't run across them like I did this one. I am open to feedback and offers should you care to contact me. I will also provide any additional information.

I live in western NC so if you are around my neck of the woods and want to see them let me know.

Thanks for the interest,

Scott

I see 10 lugs on bass drum. You sure it's 20" ?

I thought it was bigger but was going fron a late '60's catalog description. I'll put a tape to it again and check. Do I measure rim to rim? Looks to be 24"

I have put the set on ebay as that is the venue I have the most experience with. While there are several watchers already I wanted true Vintage enthusiasts to get a crack at it.

Any additional feedback regarding condition and price are welcome. All the best to you all and happy holidays!

I have lowered the price to $950 opening bid on ebay. It is also still available at ebay with a Buy It Now price of $1,300. Help me find this great old kit a new home!

Please note my new asking prices. Would like to move this along to a new owner as we live in a pretty small place and drums don't fit! All the best to you all and have a great holiday season.

Private message me for any further details or questions.

Thanks,

Scott
