I recently came across this drum online and was going to purchase it but I wanted to find out some more about it. It has a cloud badge and beavertail lugs so I know it's late 40's. When I asked if it had and extra holes drilled and I was sent the picture below. The person could not tell if they had been drilled or were apart of it orginally. They are above the snare butt and I can't find any pictures of the back side of a marching snare from then. Any help would be appreciated.

definitely extra holes,
I was afraid of that but I thought that it was maybe some extra throw off for it.
Maybe those holes are for a knee brace of some kind? Cool drum. Try Matt at CT Pro Percussion he might know and he's a member here.
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Could be for a key holder.
Mark it already has a key holder mounted on the drum in the usual traditional place on the slingerland field drums.
It is a cool drum, I would buy it even with the two tiny holes. Looks like a good project.
Thank you!

That looks like a ludwig strainer so there's probably an extra hole or two behind it and I don't think those holes above the but plate are for a leg rest.

I have a similar one and it has no holes there. hope that helps.
Thanks for the help guys. I got it pretty cheap. I figured if the hokes were extra I would just make sure it's always displayed with the badge facing out.
