Hi,
I am cleaning a late 40's, early 50's Radio King for my pops. Can anyone tell me the correct bass drum logo for that era?
Thanks,
Rob

These are my '59 RK's(cropped), the bass drum head is calf, and is an original logo head I came across some years ago. I kept it and put it on this bass drum. It is not original to the kit, but I'd guess it to be from around the period you are looking for since calf went out in about the mid 50's.
Most I know of just had the ink stamp on the heads. This was before logo's were in fashion. Then there is the sticker we see in old skool type font. You can buy either on ebay. See which one he likes best and go with it. don't forget pictures~ we like pictures!
They had a few different ink stamp logos. The first was an oval with "Slingerland Quality Drums" written inside. Then they went with the lightning bolt Radio King design after the war. They did not put large Radio King logos on bass drums. I never liked the look of those huge reproduction stickers that are seen so often these days. They just look odd and out of place to me. To each his own, of course.
Here is an oval stamp. Only 1 and a half inches long.
Thanks for the info on the bass logo's. Agree why put a sticker on a reso head.
Maybe a show your Slingerland logo stamps thread is in order :-)
