Made in Kenmore , NY . I believe they toms were 2 ply maple shells and the bass drums 6 . Decent quality drums at an affordable price back in the 50's and 60's .

Set must be worth $ 200-250 I'd guess assuming no mods have been made .

1963 Gretsch Progressive Jazz Champagne Sparkle
1967 Ludwig Super Classic Oyster Blue Pearl
Yamaha Birch Custom Absolute Burgundy Spkl. bop

I would say more than $250, in the range $350-375, even $400, just because they're not MIJ drums, and are made in the U.S.. The finish looks pretty mint, as do the rest of the drums..

That silver sparkle finish is pretty ratty. They are American made, though and Kents were good lower line drums.

And Mark Cooper is being modest by not saying this but, he has a fantastic page on Kent drums . Great info ..

Do what I do, buy them, then ask questions. Every time I wait on something it gets away. Kents are cool drums, I have a kit. They are low end drums but it seems you dont see to many Kent sets around, and they are American made with and interesting history.

Thank you!

I will not speak ill of anyone's choices of drums. There were a lot of Kent drums made in the mid 20th century. A lot of music stores that did not carry, or could not become authorized to carry the major brands of American-made drums, had the low price Kents in their stores. The Kents were a little more sturdy than some of the Asian imports, but no more substantial than the better Asian imports of that period. We don't see too many of them around today because not too many survived beyond the 70s.

I was thinking the same thing, that they just did not hold up long enough and many kits were thrown away. I have never even played mine, I bought a bass, rack tom and snare for 15.00 then later added a floor tom. They are a cool conversation piece, probably not a great gigging kit.

I am not sure about the comment that we don't see that many . They are out there if you are looking . Not in the quantities that the big 4 are but those had bigger factories pushing out production . They did make some low end drums BUT they also made a higher end line that sound and look amazing . I have 5 sets myself and a pretty good size snare collection along with various singles that all sound great . Thin maple shells with no re rings . The biggest issue has been the bearing edges . Some poorly finished or not cut at all . I have seen many from the big 4 companies leave the factories with major flaws as well so ... With good edges these can go up against a set that will cost you 3 or more times the price .
