Just picked up a Dayton Powertone Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Well, just added a Dayton Powertone to my snares. not sure how good it is until I see it closeup. Need to take it apart and clean/inspect and then tune. As with all chrome snares, my concern is always the condition of the chrome...something that is difficult to see accurately in pics.

Couple of quick questions:

- What years were Powertones out of Dayton?

- are there any features that differentiate Dayton PTs from Cleveland and Fullerton?

I do not have the Rogers book to check, but not sure these questions would be answered in it anyway.

Thanks!

Was that the serial number in the 18xxx range? Drum is mid to late 67 towards early 68.

Yup, that's the one, thanks for dating! Hoping the chrome needs polishing, but hard to tell from the pics. I'm just hoping it isn't worn, where it is beyond polishing. Bought a similar snare (Cleveland) years back and some good elbow grease and polish did wonders.

Happen to know the serial number range for snares out of Dayton?

Thanks very much.
