Greetings Fellow Drummers!

Well this is my first post ever in a drum forum. I've just entered the world of vintage drums and cymbals.( only a beginner in learning all this stuff),... I'm very much looking forward to all the knowledge I will acquire by chatting with you more experienced players and vintage collectors as I just love the old vintage gear. the look, the sound, reading all the history etc, even though I'm still clueless on a lot of this stuff, but at the same time have such a passion to learn........and so much to learn!!!....Quite overwhelming at times actually, but I'm hear to soak up all the knowledge.

My kit, by the way, is a 4 piece 60's Ludwig Silver Sparkle. I bought some old Ludwig shells ( white interior painted ones) and a local guy who restores vintage kits put this together for me and re-wrapped them, (except for the bass drum which still had the original silver sparkle wrap...10 lugs too). Did a great job on these and quite happy with the results, ( the kit cost $800). I also bought a Ludwig 1965 Supraphonic snare, a pair of 1970's 14' Zildjian A hi hats medium weight, and a pair of heavily " patina'd" Zildjian 14 new beat hi-hats, also with the 70's stamp, (their filthy, but look great and sound amazing)....a ride cymbal is my next purchase!

Ok, that's about it...a little long but just wanted to introduce myself! I'll post some pics of the Sparkle kit soon!

Cheers from the Maritimes!

Nova Scotia. I love that place. I spent four months in the North Pole on an ice breaker way back when we had dates that started with nineteen. I can recall pulling into NOva Scotia and hitting the pier for some down time. I grabbed a meal at a Vietnamese restaurant and walked until I found a quaint neighborhood park. I laid on the bench and the leaves dropped off the trees and landed on me. I hadn't seen a tree since leaving Alaska and heading into the ice. Nova Scotia holds a special place in my heart.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Right on!! Most people who visit NS fall in love with the province. Glad it was a great experience for you...Sounds like you were in Halifax....that's a party town and the music scene is great
