Just bought another club date Last viewed: 13 hours ago

Well I had thought about buying another Club Date kit and just won this from an estate sale. Bought it site unseen and will pick it up Thursday or Friday. No clue on the sizes but based off of the Pioneer snare looks like a 14" floor tom. Hard to tell from the pictures but maybe the bass drum is an 18" even though this was never a factory setup. I will post some pictures once I get it home. Looks to be a near complete factory outfit.

nice find manny! looks like a 20/12/14 pioneer to me. will be interesting to see what the cymbals are too. that looks like an uncommon duco color unless my eyes are deceiving me. exciting!

Mike,

I think you are correct on the sizes. Going through the catalogs it looks like that cymbal holder on the bass drum was around circa 1963. I will let you know about the finish when I pick them up. Looks like I will get another Pioneer after all.

So picked up the kit today. Other than the previous owner leaving off the reso head on the floor tom it is complete. Hardware case had the floor tom factory reso head, hoops and tension rods. Even had spare parts or the universal bass drum pedal to include a brand new leather strap for the beater. WFL snare stand and one flat base stand (minus top portion with cymbal tilter), Zilco hi hats and some cracked cymbals included also. Such a shame on the cymbals because they felt like much lighter weight Zildjians that would otherwise sound great.

Ink stamps still present on all drums but very faded on all but the 12" tom. Stamps put the drum to November 1965. Factory edges all look cherry. The finish is the copper lacquer finish as mentioned by Mike.

Overall very cool kit and the pioneer that came with it actually sounds great.

This will be a super easy restoration. Really just cleaning it up. Only one screw and nut is missing from the tone control on the 12" tom.

Nice find there! Looking forward to seeing the kit all shined up. I got some Zilco hats with the Camco kit I bought last week. They looked like junk but they polished up very nice and sound really good I think.

Thank you!

Way to go! Really like the color, especially with the gold hoop inlays. I thought it might be a 12x15 ft from the first pictures, but was wrong. Pretty classy kit..........marko

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
