Elvis recorded three songs on July 2 1956 at RCA New York - "Hound Dog", "Don't Be Cruel" and "Any Way You Want Me".

Mid 50's Ludwig, what's the snare exactly?

Yes sir, Powertone!

1956, the coolest Elvis era. A Time magazine photog. followed him around for a while and got the greatest pics. There is a short documentary called "Elvis 56" which is really cool. One group of photos show Elvis on a train returning home from a session. He has a portable record player on his lap and he's listening to the acetates. The train stops in a field in Memphis (not a station) and E departs and walks across the field on the way home with his record player in hand. Cool.
