As you know the bass drum and floor time are war time Ludwigs by the badge on the bass 1941-2 the fllor tom is later 1944-45..But the chrome snare is a Gretsch "rock-it lugs" would date that drum from 1935-1949 -50..The wood snare drum is a 1920s Geo B Stone...Nice set of drums you have..Mikey
wow...no kidding ...thanks mikey!!! And thanx to ya'll for your input ! I simply flipped when I saw these.......the rest of the story....this kid was gonna throw them out, a buddy of mine knew I am settin up a frankenstein kit for the roundbarn rockers....and snagged them for me. and then.....a perfectly awesome trade ..was made!!!!! THANKS ya'll....oh ya...the electric rope coming out of the bass is for a light inside {That does work} and looks WAY cool !
Any ideas about what I can use for heads? I wanna play these puppies regularly!
yep, the lugs are wood, the bass has asquare ludwig badge ...whereas the tom has an enamel oval ludwig and ludwig badge, but they match elsewhere......? the little wooden snare has the wires and hardware missing, it is a snare I'm sure of it. Piccolo maybe? I should have gotten a better pic of the hihat also....its as cool as the bass muffler...thanks ya'll for lookin and enjoying this !
I don't know, man....I think it's an invention. See the way the lug screws have to go BETWEEN the flesh hoop of the drumhead and the rim? And see the little notch on the inside the upper rim? And then the question of the drawer handle for the snare mechanism....? And the exposed bearing edge? If you could take some more detailed closeups of that drum it would be great! The clues kind of suggest a banjo and not a snare drum, in my opinion.
Did the "tractor seat on a tire rim" thrown come with it? That set has a very personal style running through it!
Cool1

For what it's worth, that doesn't look anything like a Stone snare drum to me. Never seen thumb rods like those on a Stone before and have yet to come across one with metal hoops although I've seen evidence of an all metal Master-Model which seems to have eluded public sight for years now! Stone was good about branding their drums too (badges, labels, or at least shell stamps - even on lower level models) unlike W & A and the like who built cheap drums for mail order catalogs and such.
