hello, i just bought this snare-/marching-drum here in norway. is it possible to say anything about it what so ever? how old can it be, and so on?

There must have been drum makers in Norway just like everywhere else.I would put this drum into the " old as hell " catagory.Notice the tack welded internally threaded tabs on the rim.New one on me.I really doubt that's a cast rim but we don't know yet.You know that drums were made on request by wood workers before and after there were dedicated drum companies.Talk to the old guys around you.Hows that thing sound any way?

ah. thank you very much, david!! i cant find any pictures of a drum that is identic, but it has just the same functions as the "german youth drum"!

They were military drums for sure, but most known for the German youth organization at that time during the war.

The second one has a similar bar, but a different snare system.

I included the one that looked most like yours, but they both had similarities.

They all look a lot bigger. I'll keep looking.

On a seperate note, I just watched "Defiance" from Netflix last night. Good film, I thought.
