Identifying Ludwig snare Last viewed: 4 days ago

Loading...

Hi,

I'm hoping you guys might be able to help.

I have a 70's Ludwig snare, with a blue and olive badge. The serial number is 1700890. What is confusing me is that all the research I have done into these drums is that they are either 14x5 or 14x6.5. However, I believe mine is 14x6.

I'm trying to establish more information regarding its history and value.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Dave

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Dave measure the drum shell without the rims on it . it will measure out to be a 5x14" model #LM 400

Nice drum. I don't see any pitting. Must have been in a dry environment.

What he said... (It's a Ludwig Supraphonic)

Date wise, according to the S/N charts, I'd say between 1976-1979

As for value, it depends on the condition. In this case, it looks to be in really good shape, as these drums are notorious for pitted chrome.

If there is ZERO pitting, you are looking upwards of $300. If there are pits and scratches, you can still get >$150.

Does the strainer work with smooth action, and can you post close up pics of all the angles?
