ID these timbales Last viewed: 4 hours ago

Loading...

I followed a hunch on these and won them on eBay, can anybody shed some light on exactly what they are.

The lugs are interesting and as yet I've not been able to ID them.

Diecast hoops and slotted tension rods.

And a strange key mechanism on the side of the shell.

The heads look like they've been played to death which in my eyes is a good sign.

Awaiting delivery so will be able to provide more info if required.

Posted on PDF but not got any feedback as yet.

Any input welcome...

So a big thanks to Captain Bubbles over on the Dolbear forum for correctly identfying these as being stainless steel Asba timbales. I've yet to date them as Asba have Timbales listed in both the 60s and 70s catalogues: http://www.drumarchive.com/asba/

I've already found a UK dealer who is selling matching Asba lugs at just under a tenner.

Still looking for further info so any input is welcome, especially tricks and tips for cleaning/restoring and polishing stainless steel shells.
