ID needed on Ludwig drums Last viewed: 7 hours ago

I've got an incomplete Ludwig set that I bought in very rough shape in 2002. It clearly wasn't cared for, which is why i bought it as my first set. Now that I'm looking to sell these drums, I'd like to get an ID on them.

The original set I bought included:

Bass drum (16x24)

Rack tom (11x12)

Floor tom (16x16)

Hihat stand

2x Boom stand

Straight stand

Info as far as I can provide:

All drums are wood, Black plastic wraps (broken on bass drum), inner surface natural finish, six lugs on rack tom, eight lugs on bass and floor tom, badge is the black and white rounded version, no etched box around the serial number.

Things you can ignore in the pictures: The snare, cymbals, and the small tom on the floor are not original. I'm also certain that none of the heads are original, especially the one with the Tama decal :D

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Look like Ludwig Rockers to me....circa mid-80's

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

Yep...Rockers, rough shape, and prolly not worth more than a couple hundred, if that. Please don't take this as an insult, I just want to be fair and honest so you get your expectations in the realm or reality. On the plus side, you have all the hardware to go with, but that looks rough as well. They are great shells, and probably sound pretty good. With the condition of the wrap, in conjunction with the fact they are Rockers, You may want to clean them up best you can, and look around for a small, rural school and maybe think about donating them for the tax write off, if you can afford to do it. Where the clean up is considered, since the wrap is already destroyed, you could remove the wrap from all the drums and put a coat of Minwax with a light colored stain on them, a Golden Oak, or something light and golden. Pull the wrap, sound the shells smooth and apply according to the instructions. Using Minwax will give them a coat of poly as it is already in the mix. And it will look great for a little money and not a lot of time, just tear down and re-install the lugs and mounts.

I don't know your circumstances, nor your reason for the decision to sell, but if you are looking to get a lot to go toward the purchase of a new set, probably not gonna happen.

I donno, but if i was you, i'd keep them . It might need a little t.l.c.,but it's your first drum set ,and as they says, (even if you buy another kit) D'ONT ever sell you're first drums set.I also think a drummer need, at the least, two drums kit. Just my opinion.
