ID a Zildjian Crash with smooth Bell? Last viewed: 33 minutes ago

Love this cymbal and wanting to see if I can find smaller ones that match it well

I like my other old cymbals (hollow logo) but the tone is very different

Anyone nerdy enough to know? ;)

The Bell is higher and smoother

Do you know roughly what year or era this stamp design corresponds to?

That is a late 1950s or very early 1960s produced A Zildjian, wearing the B version of the Small Stamp. The small tonal groove lathing on the bell (that you call smooth) is often found on cymbals from that production period. I could point you to my web pages which contain the best information on these but apparently I need "at least 10 posts to include links in my message". You can get there via cymbal.wiki but that is rather indirect.

Given that is a 19" cymbal and you say the bell is higher (than what?) it could be the Special Cup rather than the Medium Cup, but I can't tell from your photo. I can show you what the measurements are if you would like but the site is not cooperating at the moment.

Wow, that A Zildjian crash with a smooth bell sounds like it’s got serious character — the tone in the bell region can really make or break a cymbal. Can’t wait to hear what people are saying about it!
