I opened the 20" Bass drum to find a copy of The Philadelphia Inquirer Aug. 14, 1967 crunched up and stuffed inside to muffle the drum. Very funny!

Ha, haaaaaaaa!! My birthday!! Please! What are the headlines? Talk about time-capsules.

Neat.

PS - Used to find stuff like that between walls and floors-joists of residences, doing home remodels, back in the 80's, on LI. Found an untouched Mercury Project postage stamp, too. Home owner said I could have it.

That's hilarious!! The newspaper is visible through the head in those pics you posted in your first thread. Did the Bruins win?

The white interior looks to be perfectly white. That makes me wonder if the news paper acts as a magnet to anything that would discolor the interior. Sort of like silica gel packets for moisture. Of course it's obvious that the drum has been closed up for 45 years too so maybe my little theory is bunk.

Does that mean the heads have not been changed since 1967? Or did they just leave the paper in there each time?
