How weird is to use any stick type? Last viewed: 6 hours ago

> keep hearing great things about the rebound on those so trying them out.

Man, talk about great sticks that aren't made anymore... Rogers Finger Control series! I have one NOS pair that I got from Jazzbo in Japan. They are so well balanced and the rebound is excellent, responsive stick with a great woody tone/note. Gonzo, they don't make em anymore. If you ever spot an NOS set up for sale grab them at any price, you won't be sorry. Great feel to those sticks.

Too many great drums to list here!

Size of your hands and the length of the fingers play a big factor here for finding the best size and length of stick as they usually mirror each other. That`s how i`ve found that comfortable size for me anyway...but there is no real "rule of thumb"here. It`s the usual process of experimentation in different styles of music.

Vater Jazz Ride for me. I'm happy with that stick. I'd recommend it. Nicely balanced shaft that tapers gently towards the tip. That's what she said. Ha ha!

Now maybe I didn't formulate the question correctly…I wasn't asking what kind of stick people on this forum use…I asked if people here would consider "normal" to use any kind of stick. Any brand, any model…I mean : Ive seen people being VERY particular about sticks. To the point of not even being able to "play" if its not the kind of stick they use regularly. No kiddin…

The trouble is nowadays 7as are a heavier stick than they used to be this is very frustrating. I would say yeah if youre happy with any stick that's fine, it used to be that I wouldn't even think about the type of stick I was using, now though I don't realy know why but I'm a lot more picky to the point of being dare I say a little bit 'hung up' about it. I think it's actually a psycological thing to a point.

I'd use any brand or model if they felt fairly comfortable. I save the wimpiest, lightest sticks for someone who wants to try my kit....lol.

I purposely change stick brand and sizes on a regular basis just so I don't get too "fond" of any special size. That way I play "comfortable" with whatever I have available.

I use a 5a nylon tip on my right hand and a 5a wood tip on my left, you can`t hear the dif. on tom fills but the cym/snare tones are what i like and i`ve been doing this for a long time.Hey it`s different strokes for different folks so yes to using any combination of sticks at all times is "normal" to me.
