Hello experts, I’m just curious as to the rarity of a Ludwig Super Sensitive with a 6.5” shell depth. It seems to me that during the year my snare was made (or the pre-1968 era in general), the 5” supra’s and super sensitives would have been the more popular/common shell depth choice. I’ve seen a few of the 6.5” super sensitives here and there but do not appear to be as common as the 5”. Any thoughts?

As for the "rarity" of this particular size, you are correct that you don't see many, but that could be because they are held by many orchestral players and not sold around like the others....just my :2Cents:

it seems the supers aren't as valuable as the supras, at least to players.
i've played both, and that fancypants snare adjuster is a pain in everyone's ass when you're trying to tune it between sets. the deeper shells usually bring more, yes, but being a super...
