Hodge Podge Craigslist Kit I Picked Up Today Last viewed: 49 minutes ago

A little Luddy, A Little Slingy and a Little MIJ all in one kit. I picked up this kit on Craigslist today listed as a vintage Slingerland.

It did have a 20 inch Slingy Kick and 16 inch Slingy Floor Tom in Black Diamond Pearl or maybe Blue not quite sure. My guess is according to the drum guide is that these are late 60's. They have serials of 219324 (floor tom) and 230851 (kick). The interiors are the light beige covering and have P stamps. Somehow the kick ended up with a Ludwig Tom Mount and no extra holes ? Musta started life as a virgin. The kick is missing it's front hoop and t-rods and the floor tom is missing the bottom hoop.

The rack toms are White Hall and are wrapped in a blue pearl. One 13 x9 and one 14 x 10. The interiors of these drums are different also. The 13 has a grey interior with black felt muffler and the 14 has a light blue interior with white felt muffler. Both have extra holes for the 60's Ludwig Tom Holders that the previous owner installed.

Finally this kit came with a cool 1965 Ludwig Supra. Serial 140266. It has very little pitting on the shell and original wires ! ...but it also has a strange rusted area around the badge grommit.....oh and it came on a cool old vintage Slingy Snare stand..

Anyway here are some pics to check out and any info the forum can offer up is always appreciated. I am gonna flip some of this and keep some of it. Haven't decided whether I want to build out the Slingy Kit or just add a snare to my collection.

I think your right. Those Whitehalls are blue so they kinda trick the eye when they are sitting together. Or trick my eyes at least. Once I separated the two the Slingy's were obviously all Black Diamond.

Kinda of freaking out about the Ludalloy Supra in this bunch because it looks like it has not been touched in years.....has rips in the bottom reso head and sounds way better then my C.O.B. Supra. I have tuned the crap outta that C.O.B..... New heads , Puresound Wires the works...Don't get me wrong it doesn't sound bad but this Ludalloy sounds damn near perfect. Just crazy.

"but it also has a strange rusted area around the badge grommit"

I have never seen rust on a Ludalloy Supra...pitting and/or corrosion, but never rust. Did it clean off OK? Could tell what caused it? Did the rust come from the badge or grommet?

It actually cleaned up pretty good with a bit of polishing.Rust came right off and was all surface rust. There is still a remnant of a stain but seems to be polishing out. It was actually on the interior of the drum. Like maybe someone cleaned it and water went through the grommet hole and sat. Drum totally sings though. Has me looking at my C.O.B. cross eyed.

Here is a before and after shot of the interior rust. Found a yellow E chalk marking under it. Maybe someone special ordered extra rust. No structural damage underneath which is good.
