Here's my Vistalite find... w/ the 20" floor tom

Loading...

So far, I have only changed the batter side bass drum head and added the felt strip. Havent cleaned, polished, or restored anything as of yet... tell ya the truth, dont think i really need to do much.

Floor is a 20" and still has the original heads from what i can tell. I will probably end up selling this and try to find a more conventional floor tom (16x16). Dont know yet...

Anyone know how to effectively tune a floor tom that big?

"Clearly" an awesome find! Sweet thundering tom that's a big drum there... What was it Joe Morello used say about tuning drums.. "I tune mine to the key of Joe"... or something like that. :)

Just sharing a link... for conversation sake.

That was a good read. Very detailed! I'm going to put a pinstripe on it and see how that sounds.

Brew - You can probably get $600, or $700 for the 20" floor tom alone. It's a -rare- size. Enough $ to by a 16" and a round of new Silver dot clear heads for the entire kit!

Great score brother.

John

Too many great drums to list here!
