Help with Radio King hardware.... Last viewed: 1 day ago

Hi. I'm in the process of restoring a WMP Radio King kit. I think it's from the late 40's. It has a 13" tom, 16" floor tom with legs, and 20" kick. It has the copper cloud (non indented) badge....... It came without tees, claws, or cymbal mounts on the kick. I've since bought some tees and claws, but I need 2 cymbal mounts. I bought 1 mount on ebay, advertised as 50's Slingerland (pictured below), but it's 1 inch too big, and wider. The size of the mount that I need is 2 5/8" from center to center of the screw holes, 3/4" wide, and has rounded edges. Does anyone have these older mounts, or at least a picture of one? I can't seem to find any reference to the earlier RK hardware. BTW, the previous owner put Rogers Swivomatic mounts on the kick and tom (darn, but at least if he was going to screw them up, he made a wise choice in hardware :) Any help is greatly appreciated!

That looks like the normal RK cymbal mount.....

Thanks for the info. So is this kit earlier than late 40's? Was there an earlier version of the cymbal mount? And how early were they making 20" kicks? Maybe the floor tom with legs was added later. Now if someone has a picture of what a really early mount looks like, or a better yet, a couple for sale - I'll be in Bop Bliss.....Keep on Pl

Your drum is a Cloud Badge,so 1940's......not 50's.....

I know a guy here in Michigan who has a WMP 20" CB RK,so they did make more then 1,like yours.......

I have been getting RK drums since 1968 (!),so I have seen a few!

As I said, never seen another size cymbal mount.

Ok, just to be clear on this, the cymbal mount that I have pictured should fit and was commonly used in the 40's?..... however, on my kick there are 2 smaller sets of holes and indentations where the mounts would go . This makes me wonder if they were for cymbal mounts at all... could they have been for any other type of hardware, like a percussion consolette or strap mounts for a marching drum? Did Slingerland make smaller "child" kits with different hardware? The holes look factory to me, and on the inside of the drum you can see indentations where the Slingerland washers would go.

Thanks
