HELP! What model/brand is this drum set and is it vintage? Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Hi guys,

when I started playing the drums, I bought a used drum set. The shop owner claimed it was a profi drum set. Now I wanna sell it, but I have a hard time figuring out what brand or model it is, when it was built, etc. Please help me out!

There is a batch that says 'Super Champion'. I know that this is not a brand but a model made by Sonor, yet there is no batch or any other sign that it was made by sonor. I've heard that there was a pearl copy of that same set called "super champion".

Some specifications:

Paiste 400

Top Hi-Hat 14“

Power Crash 16“

Power Ride 20“

Remo | Weather King | Ambassador Batter

Snare Drum: 36 x 16; 14“ x 6“

Tom 1: 31 x 28; 12“ x 11“

Tom 2: 33,5 x 30,5; 13“ x 12“

Stand Tom: 41 x 40; 16“ x 15,5“

Bass Drum 56,5 x 39; 22“ x 15“

Camco Tama Footmachine
This is an interesting link I found about the SuperChampion set by Sonor: http://www.sonormuseum.com/1975/1975.html

If you've got any idea what model/brand this is and what it's worth, please reply. Interested in buying it? Send me a message.

I don't think those are Sonor drums. They are certainly not the Super Champion set that is shown in the catalog link you provided. I own quite a few Sonor drums and don't recall ever seeing one with those lugs or damper control knobs.

@barryabko Thanks! I actually thought they were Sonor, so it helps a lot to know that they're probably not.

Those must be generic Taiwanese 80's drums.

I think they`re 80`s Yamaha too !i Not long ago, someone showed a MIT/MIJ kit made for Rogers that looked like Phonics. The copying never stops.

This is that Rogers 70`s kit, yours has isolators so I believe it`s 80`s. A CB-700 snare and power toms.

Maybe look inside a lug or bracket for stamps.

Your 'Super Champion' has just a (bad) copy of Sonor's logo on it.

That's all with the commonalities with Sonor.

The 'rest' is just a cheap and junk MIT knock-off drumset.

ticobaer!

THANKS for picking up on the attachment edit! Not your fault actually. David and I have been discussing the fact that we now have so many NEW members, we are going to have to put up a STICKY/ANNOUNCEMENT regarding what is preferred on the VDF, as well as a brief tutorial on how to go about it. THANK YOU for catching the EDIT! ENJOY your stay!

Looks like a typical Pearl style lug, however, that tone control is a new one on me.

What does MIT/MIJ mean? And what does that say about the worth of the drum set?

Also I checked for any stamps but couldn't find anything besides a little sticker that says 'Made in Taiwan, Republic of China' on the stand of the snare.

Thanks everyone for your help!! Clapping Happy2
