I dont think that one is Slingerland. The knob for the muffler definitely is not Slingerland. The fact that there is no badge is a major red flag...maybe a MIJ?

I recently came upon this drum, and no one seems to know what it is. It was advertised as a Slingerland, but even though it has what look like Slingerland lugs on it, I don't think it is one. There is no badge on it, but even more oddly, the wrap doesn't seem to indicate that there was ever a badge on it (i.e. no fading or anything around the vent hole). It's a satin flame wrap and has 8 lugs. The hoops are rounded outward (i.e. like the opposite of Slingerland StickSavers, which curve in toward the batter head). The strainer has been replaced, so there are extra holes in the shell, and it looks like the original strainer was something like a Zoomatic. The shell itself is 5-ply as near as I can tell, and the bearing edge seems to be sharper than the usual Slingerland. As I said, there is no brand indication anywhere inside or outside the shell. It's a pretty cool sounding drum (very little in terms of overtones and a nice crack), but I'd like to know what it is before I go any further with it.Any ideas? Thanks.

Fuse, Your snare is a 1960's late to mid 1970's M.I.J. snare. The muffler knob is a Pearl made one used from late 1969-1974.The lugs are also ones that you would fine on Pearl made drums sold under 50+ names. As you know the strainer is a Slingerland but if you look i see extra holes. Are theri three holes at the strainer? One bigger one and two small ones under the bigger one?.I can't tell by the photos if the shell has rings or not. Also a good photo of the mounting screws on the lugs will tell me for sure if the drum is a M.I.J. snare like i think it is....Mikey

Hello, I'm fairly new to the forums and have only responded to threads in the past. Now I wish to post a new thread and ask for help but I can't figure out how to post a brand new thread. I guess that would be my first 'help!' question and I thank you in advance.

Another question I'm looking for a answer to is that I'd like some help ID-ing these drums please. I looked all over the internet and eBay for something that looks like these lugs but have had no luck. I picked this set up (fairly cheap) and wish to restore them. I don't know if it's a starter set or not. The bass drum is 8 lug (suggesting it's not a real prize) but what baffles me is that the floor tom is also 8-lug (suggesting an upper bracket tom??).

Here's the photo. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome...To this great forum.First to start a new post at the top of the page on the left corner a bos will say Start a post..Now onto you drums the drum you posted is made by Pearl but will not have a Pearl name on it.Pearl exported these drums to the U.S under 50 or so names anytime from late 1960's to the mid 70's.Better photos of all drums will help out....Mikey

Thank you a whole lot! The seller of these said he didn't know what brand they were but rattled off a few suggestions, with Pearl Export as one possibility. I have a set of Pearl Exports and the lugs are quite different. I hadn't realized that they made other styles of lugs...very interesting. Anyway, I'm gonna try starting a new post as you suggested and I'll get some more/better pics. My apologies to the original author of this post for hi-jacking it.

re: to start a new post at the top of the page on the left corner a bos will say Start a post

I'm sorry to be a bother and to sound like an idiot but I've been all over this forum and can't figure out how to "start a new post". I hate to keep using this thread for my own questions. But honestly, I just can't seem to get this part. I thought I was pretty good with computers up till now.

Here's a snapshot of what I'm looking at and I don't see anything that relates to starting a new thread. Also, what is a "bos"? Again, my sincere apologies for sounding so dumb and to the author for hijacking his thread.

Hi! Pleased to meet you... The problem you're having is that you're already in a thread. The system won't let you start a new one while in another. Look toward the upper left; find the thread root and branches...

Vintage Drum Forum > Vintage Drums > Help Identifying This Snare

You can only start a 'new' thread in the second branch. They are 'Vintage Drums', 'Vintage Non USA Drums', 'Restoring Vintage Drums', etc...

Until you get the hang of it (it won't take long) just remember to start navigating here:
