Help Identifying Ludwig 26x14 Tymp-tom???

Loading...

Hello Folks,

I've enjoyed this forum for a long time however never got around to actually making an account. So here I am: first post.

Last night I picked up a rather odd 26" ludwig drum shell. It is in pretty fantastic shape other than the wrap lifting in two spots. I thought it was rather odd to see mini classic lugs and a steel hoop on a 26" shell, but hey thats just me. Can anyone help me identify this drum?

ALSO, I bought this as the first piece of a John Bonham-esque period correct set. Trying to decide between doing the kit in Green Sparkle, Natural, or keeping the Blue Sparkle. I'm definitely going to drill this drum for Large Classic lugs on the other side but also can't decide if I should re drill the front to accomodate Large Classic Lugs, or just leave it as is. The vintage drum guy in me says "leave it the hell alone" But if i'm already going to be drilling, might as well make it right, correct?

you should be able to use one of the holes of the small lugs and then either enlarge the other hole or better yet re drill a new hole it will depend on the distance between the two lugs I think since you will rewrap anyway just make it how you want then the new wrap will cover the other hole or better yet plug them...

this was originally a timp tom. used as a marcher, that is why it has a triple flange rim on it.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

From Apickel

This appears to be the very same timp-tom as discussed in this old thread. How many 26" Blue Sparkle timp-toms could be out there? Nice to see it hasn't been altered yet.

And jfarquharson014, Welcome to the forum!!
