Help identifying drums Last viewed: 11 hours ago

I have a Ludwig vintage set. I am trying to confirm the age and what kind of value if I decide to sell it. I think it is from 1963, the floor tom serial is 1601, bass 4043, snare 3777 and tom 2415. It also has Zildjian cymabals stamped "Avedis" and made in Turkey.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

Pictures are a good start for valuation and overall commentary on your kit.

Also, the wrap color helps, what size the drums are, and any issues like cracks, dents, wrap (or wood finish) issues, etc.

There isn't enough information provided and you probably won't get much feedback as your first post reads. I did the same thing with the serial numbers, expecting them to be more important than they actually are, and found out that these guys can date your kit from the lugs, wrap, plies of wood, etc. more accurately than with the serial numbers, in lots of cases. Post some pictures and try 'em, you will be amazed!

Just a little advice!

Here are some pictures. I can take additional pictures and I can move the drums outside for some natural light if this helps. Thanks for your input.

Does anyone have a guess to the value of this set?

Ed, the snare drum is the one and only ludwig 402 supraphonic. it alone is a $300.00-$500.00 drum depending on condition, man those are some dusty tubs!, if you can score this for $800.00 or less you've gotten a really good deal.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

Look like some nice early 60's Silver Sparkle Classics. How did you come about them? Clean them up and set them up with the stands if you are familiar with doing that. If not look at the pics in the Gallery. There are several sets like yours there. If your a player I would hang on to them. I love my Ludwig set of that era. With the cymbals and hardware you might could get over a 1000.00 A pic of the set with cymbals and hardware would help even more.

Photos aren't the best, but judging "by eye" from the the bd hoop condition & the tom arm looking pretty much unused, snare appearing in very good condition, & with cymbals, I'd value the kit above 1700, easily. If you were in MN that is definitely a set I'd make an offer on -

Off topic, but I worked with an Ed Kaizer back in the day. You're not from Brookpark Oh, are you?
