Help ID Slingerland Kit Last viewed: 5 days ago

Hi everybody!

Been a fan of the forum for a long time. This is my first post here.

I am hoping to get some info on this Slingerland kit. I'm not sure if it is a stock kit or if it was pieced together (I believe the latter).

Here's what I do know:

It has a Niles badge.

It is coated red inside. (not factory?)

It has re-rings.

It is red sparkle but faded to look orange.

Only the bass drum has a badge. Serial #19448

I think the tom mount was added to the bass drum (not stock).

Inside bass drum has "P" stamp and "65".

The sizes:

18x14 BD (both hoops and all rods and claws)

16x14 FT (both original hoops)

13x9 TT (no bottom hoop)

10x9 TT (looks like a concert tom) Someone put a smaller mount on it.

It has Ludwig heads on the toms that look like they might be from the 60's or 70's.

The bass drum seems to have the original heads and what might be a vintage pillow inside! LOL

The kit seems to be in great shape probably due to a thick layer of dust that came with it for no extra charge!

I know almost nothing about vintage Slingerlands so I appreciate any info I can get.

Thanks for looking!

I'd say the double tom mount was bought to add the 10",which looks like it came from one of those "nesting" sets. Those are nice drums-

Could you post the pics of the interior of the shell to show the color it is painted?. The P stands for Pearl meaning it is a wrapped kit.

Looks like a 65 set with an added concert tom with a different tom mount. And a late 70's Super setomatic double tom mount.

Thanks for the replies. I had a feeling that the kit wasn't stock. Never seen a "setomatic" tom mount before either.

Only the toms were painted red. The bass drum is natural inside.

What kind of wood are they?

Any opinions as to what it may be worth as is?

Here are some more pics.

The red painted interior is factory painted. with the 18" bass drum it is worth more than the other standard sizes.

Mahogany out Poplar middle maple inside.

I have seen the milk color, but this a first red?

Mark.

How many years did they do that? Paint the inside different than the milk color.
