My wife bought this for me at a thrift store today for $15; I'm a little confused on a date: It has springs and inserts, and from the stamps inside, it's either June of 1946 (4606) or April of 1944 (44-4). Bought I thought that badge was older than that. Maybe something that had been sitting a shelf all WWII that they built up to complete an order? Thoughts?

The only timeline I can find your drum in that configuration is 41. Triumphal. Everything else has either claws, bowtie, clips, tube lug, tuning keys.
It has to be a held over or 41 Parade.
It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Thanks for the info. I should've mentioned it's 12x15. Still wonder what the numbers mean; my 30s Leedy uses the same format as the "4606" and of course, Leedy and L & L were both Conn by then.

4606 is the date stamp.
After the war they used up lots of older parts, (like the Chicago badge on the drum.)
I've found WFL sets that were converted from war time parts to metal parts in the same era as your drum, so, all the companies were probably doing the same thing?
