Help Cleaning Vintage Ludwig Wrap Last viewed: 8 minutes ago

I know this has been discussed before but i have some weird stains on this drum and im concerned with the stains not yellowing wrap

looking for pointers

i usually use meguiars headlight polish but and it definatly shines it up but not really helping with the black stains

oddly enough you dont see the stains when the tom is on its side only right side up.

Try a magic eraser. They do work pretty well on taking of marker, stains and grime off wraps. SlingerLynn said it did dull his shell where he used it. So you'd need to polish it after. I used one yesterday on some WMP Rogers shells and didn't get any dull spots. Mine had rust stains where the swivo hardware plates go. And the magic eraser is working pretty well on those too. Needs a little more work but once I get into them full swing. I also did a 15" WMP concert snare shell. That wrap was very dull to start with but polished up nice after. flowers2

I wonder if WD40 would work? I wouldnt try that until others chime in.

Have you used Novus?

I'd try a little Wd 40 too. they make a marker applicator type that would be good.

Went to target today and autozone. But neither had novus. I tried S100 motorcycle windshield restorer and that seems to work. Although it slightly dulls it and will prob polish .

Am I seeing things, or does that tom shell have snare beds??

(or is that photo a different drum?)

Turtle Wax polishing compound (the white stuff) works wonders and it's inexpensive. Lots of elbow grease, too.

If you mean me, yes it's a 15x12 marching snare shell. It was drilled for floor tom legs and used for one at some point. Which is what I'm doing with it also.
