Heads for 1978 6.5" Supra SS Last viewed: 15 hours ago

I tried to find past posts about this but wasn't able to find what I was looking for, so please pardon me if this has already been discussed. Any suggestions for heads on a 1978 6.5" Supra SS. I am after a vintage sound from the late 60s to early 70s era. Also, the tension rod on one of the sides is bent and slightly loose, any suggestions on straightening and tightening.

if it were mine, i'd use a ludwig snare side head and a ludwig weathermaster medium on the batter. ive also used remo coated ambassadors up top and remo diplomats on the bottom. its hard not to make these sound good.

ive had some luck straightening tension rods when i can't find a replacement. its kinda iffy though. i wrap mine in a rag and put it in the vise and tighten it slightly to get the bend out. don't tighten too much as to mess the threads up. replacements can also be found of course.

Mike,

Do you know where I might find a replacement if I screw it up trying to straighten it?

i would place a wanted here. someone should have one. when you have it off to straighten, measure it or take a pic of it next to a ruler. heck, i might even have one. if not, sometimes on ebay. new ones can also be bought from various sources as well.

I like clear Diplomat snare-side heads with coated Ambassadors (my preference) or Emperors on top.
