Guitarist Are No Better, Even Worse?

Thought this was humorous. Just checking out one of my favorite guitarists Jeff Pevar (David Crosby, RL Jones, etc) and his web page. Um, these are the guitars he "plays" ... not sure if that means he owns all these currently but wow. Talk about an obsession :) and a way more expensive one than drumming.

I am an "unusual" guitarist in that I don't believe in hoarding them. :)

I pick "slots" for styles of guitars that are different enough from other guitars to warrant a distinction. Then, on my limited budget, try to put the best example I can find in those slots. Helps keep the obsessive instincts down because you can't have duplicates.

I have a humbuckered Les Paul Custom, a P-90 Les Paul Standard with a wraparound bridge, a 40s Lap Steel, a 40's Console Steel, an acoustic, an electric bass, and a Fender Telecaster. Bases covered!

(Oh, and my 70/71 Blue Oyster DownBeat kit! Ha, can't forget that! :) )

You drummers have an interesting conundrum though: Your vintage collectible instruments are VASTLY VASTLY VASTLY more affordable than vintage guitars, but they are much larger and more hard to store.

Interesting only one National. A reso-electric at that. On the rare occasion I grab a guitar, like my Lone Star Strat or the 1929 National reso.

Would love to see a list of Mr. Watts in storage kits.

Thanks for the post.

Nothing special here but I like them.

Maybe that's the way guitarists are. The rhythm guitarist from our 1960's rock group that I jam with occasionally has a room with two shelves around three walls, lined with guitars. Maybe not quite as many as Jeff, but very close.

My guitar player could put a big music store to shame he has over 200 guitars and bass guitars combined, lap steels etc, amps, stomp boxes, speakers, extra cabs. most are vintage.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

I need to show this list to my wife, she thinks I have a lot of guitars.

Guild J30-12 12 string

Rickenbacker 360-12

Rickenbacker 4003S

Epiphone flat top 12 string

Epiphone Dot

Fender Stratocaster

Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass

Fender California Series Acoustic Electric

Gibson Les Paul Studio

generic Les Paul Custom

Hofner violin bass

I think that's it, beside a couple right-handed guitars I keep around in case somebody comes over and wants to jam.
