Let's see if we can't get the tooth paste back in the tube here...aussievintage drummer - It's 'bad form' and a big no-no around here to interject politics, or political commentary, into the dialog. It's a drum forum. If you must give voice to your political views, there are dedicated political forums for that. Moving right along...John

Geez. I can understand with the recent Christopher Lane tragedy that an Aussie might be leery of the US but being frightened of an entire country is a complete fallacy and best left for other forums. Otherwise I have no idea why there is any need for political bashing. Lets stick to bashing (or praising for that matter) Guitar Center.

You do have to take into consideration that depending on where in the US you live the economy has some bright spots and the cost of living differs greatly. Some of this sluggish recovery is beneficial because prices have not skyrocketed but sometimes it's much slower to sell something than it used to be. Do appreciate the apology too.

Getting back on point.....

I too find my local GC to be helpful, well stocked decent prices and fun to go to.

The young drum dudes really appreciate old stuff. When I bring in a piece of of my SS set for some reason or another, they always crowd around and compliment.

Now contrast this to one of the few owner operated music stores near me where the owner is a pompous ex local drummer of a famous local band who is always paranoid that any customer in his shop is a collector expecting to want everything for nothing.

If you're not in his circle of friends, forget it you will not get any attention.

GC guys always welcome their customers with friendly greetings and they they let you play anything on display for as long as you want!

I like the idea that GC isn't posting signs prohibiting me from carrying my 38s on me. .

Aussie, I loved your statements. We are who we are. A big ol' melting pot of ooie gooey goodness and humanity with lots and lots of redeeming qualities.

Love your directness and definitely no insult read into it. Take care and keep drumming.

I went to GC today, to see what used gear they had. Much to my surprise, I picked up a rack system from a double-kick 9 piece Export kit, so the kid working there told me. I got my money back on about 2/3rds of the clamps on that thing, and all the rest of it is gravy! It will be a little while, but I will post some pics of my new and improved set-up, before year's end!!

Anywho, the kid working there was young, and had a Braveheart side-of-the-head braided pony tail. First impression for me was to turn around. However, I already walked past the rack so I couldn't do it....LOL. Surprisingly, he was very professional, respectful, and knew his stuff. I took him into deeper waters asking about a Sound King snare they had, and the couple Slingy kits piled up for sale. The Slingy kits looked horrid and the cheapest was 850 I think, but he knew enough about them to sell them to someone who doesn't frequent the VDF 5 hours a day.....LOL. I would say appearance aside, he represented his organization very well.

They also had a 20's or 30's Leedy snare for 7 or 8 hundred bucks, which was cool to look at.
