Guess this Leedy badge...

Can any of you tell me what year the badge below may be from? I'm thinking like 48 or 49? The Vintage Drum Guide shows a brass badge with the same markings, "Leedy" lettering style and "Elkhart Indiana U.S.A." as this badge, although this one does not appear to be brass. Maybe a transition badge from 48-49? Any guesses?

This type of script seems to show up in Leedy catalogs around 1947, & is the script used in the Leedy & Ludwig catalogs by 1950(though that badge is different). So, I would guess that you are correct in thinking it was a short lived Leedy badge, c. '49.

Thanks for the reply, Dennis...my thoughts exactly.

Stef...sorry to tease...but yes, it is mine and will be in my possession soon. I made a purchase today on eBay and should have the kit hopefully by the end of next week. I'll post up a pic and some details tomorrow. Stay tuned, my friend...

El - If it's an aluminum badge, it's a war badge from 1941. They only used the aluminum for two years I believe.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

That kit didn't last long on there. Great pick up.

Looking for a late 80's to early 90's, preferably Arctic White Pearl MLX 14x14 floor tom.

Hey Purdie...I don't have the drums yet, so I'm not sure if it's aluminum, but the aluminum badge you are referring to has script "Leedy" lettering and this has the newer "Leedy" type of letters that look like the brass badge of 48-49.

Stedi...it's a 3-piece without the snare.

Atlanta...thanks. I couldn't resist. Been looking for a 40's Leedy. This was the right kit, right sizes, right condition, right price and free shipping! Had to do it.

So here she is...13/16/26...can't wait to sit behind them! The '63 Super Classic will be going up for sale, though. I think I'll live...

Thanks! I knew it looked exactly like the brass/blue badge from the vintage drum guide page, but wasn't sure if it was a transition badge since it is not gold. Maybe it just wore off? I'll have to check the shells for the stamp when I get them. Super stoked about this purchase!
