I have been emailed pics of a 12, 13, 14x14, 18 Gretsch set, the snare is there, but in bad shape. I'm looking at the bass drum, it's been painted white inside, obvious rewrap, Slingerland mount, holes added. But I don't see holes for the previous double mount? Do you guys see any other problems that I don't? I would like to offer a reasonable amount, but I want to make sure that, despite its condition, that I'm not getting a raw deal.
Gretsch 18" bass offered, should I? Last viewed: 12 hours ago
Looks like holes from two Rogers mounts on either side of the Slingerland mount as well. That's a lot of swiss cheese action going on...
Funny I was offered the same kit by the same member. So long as the price is right I say go for it. It wont fetch the same money as the bop kit I sold or even the one Kevin sold with a converted floor tom.
So just to keep as a player for yourself sure.

It might be worth sending the photos to Jack Lawton and getting a plug / rewrap quote. Then base your offer off of that info... that is if you would be planning a full resto.
I would buy it. It would be a fun, if challenging project and you would be bringing a cool set back from the brink. Keep us informed.
Buy it! Otherwise, send it my way :)
Any Gretsch Round Badge set in those sizes is worth owning. It's not perfect, but has character. A great players kit for sure.
