Grestch Badge ID Last viewed: 21 hours ago

I haven't seen this pin or button that's on my MT and FT pictured on any vintage drum ID sites. The drums have silver paint on the inside shells, 5 digit serials and have been repainted from their original satin flame wrap.

It looks like a 60's round badge, but the pin in the middle is round and smooth. Not dimpled like a golf ball. Just nice and smooth. ANy ideas?

ANy ideas?

Replaced with an upholstery tack, which is what Gretsch used.

Never play it the same way once.

Thanks man! That's pretty resourceful little trick. I'm missing a badge on the bass drum in all likelihood it will receive the same treatment. You know... for consistency. :)

Gretsch bass drums didn't use a tack, they had large grommet holes.

There may very well be smooth-headed modern tacks but I've seen some very old Gretsch drums (toms) that have a smooth-headed upholstry tacks too. Maybe some smooth ones were factory - anyone else seen them on old (20's 30's) drums?

Having owned 3 RB Gretsch drumsets, none had the smooth headed tack. Is it possible that: 1. The tacks were replaced after the re-wrap or 2. Gretsch used different tacks on the Satin Flame finishes?
