Glad you all are still here!

Hello all,

Not sure if this is the right place to post an introduction. Sorry if I'm in the wrong place.

Been off the forum for over five years. Life got complicated for a bit but I'm glad to see the forum is alive and well. As am I. :)

I'm a casual collector of vintage American made drums - especially Slingerland and Rogers gear from the 50s and 60s.

Like I said, I've been out of the game for a bit but this weekend my 13 year old son asked, "Dad, do you still have a drum set? They used to be all over the house???"

"Yes, son, there are some drums in storage but I sold off most of the good stuff when we moved. Let's go see what we still have." Off to the attic we go!

Much to my delight, I did manage to hang on to some of my original drums from when I was little boy.

Pic attached.

My first snare drum!: A Kent my dad bought for me when I was probably 8 or 9 years old. About ten years ago I rebuilt it and had the edges redone. It sounds amazing.

My first bass drum: A Rogers 20 Blue Onyx. Bought used at Sam Ash in Manhattan when I was probably ten years old.

Slingerland rack toms I bought about six years ago at an estate auction. I have a 12 and a 13- but the 13 needs some work.

Anyhow, I'll be posting some "Want to buy" items in the classified section to finish out this mish-mosh of a kit, but just wanted to (re)introduce myself. I forgot how cool these things are.

So glad my boy (who also plays guitar, keyboard and clarinet) motivated me to re-engage with this.

Man, what a long post. Thanks for reading and looking!!

Alright, so a Kent, a Sling and a Rogers all orphans in the same color?

At least a real close color...right?

Welcome back.
