eam - Granted, the drum is 'composed' of quality parts, but the only thing Geo. Way about it, is the lugs, strainer and badge. Geo. Way drums use a unique and proprietary tone control. The shell, although high quality, is not a Jasper maple shell with Geo. Way bearing edges. Actually, the unique bearing edge profile used by Geo. Way is as important a selling feature as the shell and hardware.

Offer it as a 'custom made from parts,' rather than as a "Geo. Way" snare drum. Price it out accordingly. It's still a very nice and desirable drum. Just not a, 'George Way'. Good luck with your sale.

John,

I actually put 2 and 2 together pretty immediately after posting the ad. The reputable seller I bought the drum from was nice enough to refund my money when I explained to him that it was a slingy shell with Geo hoops/rods and throwoff.

I would never sell anything like this if I knew it was not legitimate, so I went back and added the notes to the listing right after I listed it. Thanks for the follow up though!

There is a decent start to a George Way snare on ebay right now though....good to here from you!

Research before you buy. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Huh? You bought it, got the seller to refund you the money AND keep the drum? Now you're selling it?

I was the seller. I bought this drum as you see it. I thought it had been refinished and the Slingerland muffler added. So after he bought it and figured out what was up I refunded his cash and he sent it back. I collect, buy and sell lots of drums. I had no intention of misrepresenting this drum. I currently have the drum which will be parted out. If anyone need some Geo lugs, strainer or badge let me know....
