Is that a canister throne in the background?
Good stuff!!!!

Good stuff!!!!
I think they were home made, old cardboard barrels with an upholstered seat. there's two of them, one of them was wrapped with an aluminum sheet.
I think you did good, those hats look like trans stamps so probably half
your money back there alone. Even though the floor tom is worse for
wear those will come out very nice indeed.
Yeah, I think you did good. Post some more pics of the add on bass drum spurs, looks like they are using a more modern floor tom leg mount for the spurs. That bass drum will boom!!
I'm still curious about the snare??
No chit,Kev....me too!
Pop the heads off that bad boy so we can see pics.......
I'll willing to bet it's a solid maple shell, not ply.........
That drum just screams "solid"......
...................................................
I restored a BDP RK set almost exactly 1 year ago.......26,13,16 and matching 5-1/2 by 14 solid snare.
Took 20-40 hours to polish every stinkin part/shell by hand, but was worth it!
It's in a video now on YouTube.......
The vid is by Pajama Club and it's called ......Tell Me What You Want.
..............................................................................................
You will need........
Novus 2 plastic polish.....1 or 2 small bottles
1-2 small tubes of Simichrome metal polish.......
LOTS and lots of paper towels.......
1 container of Evapo-Rust from Auto Zone.
a case of your favorite beer (if you drink)...and/or....a few fatties....if thats your thing........
5-10 of your favorite CD's
Hours out of your life.......
.......................................
Dismantle 1 drum at a time..........Novus the shells first.....then polish the metal parts.......thats the hard part.
....................................
Glad you did before pics.......you WILL NOT believe how cool these are going to look when you are done!
Great score!
And,yes!........you have some late 40's A.Zil hats!
Prolly bought new with the kit,as your kit is late 40's........
Blair
PS.......I flipped my kit for $2,500, so will be well worth your time to complete/restore properly!
The heads on the 13" are original.........
The whole set will sound best with calfs at least on 1 side of the drums, but they are $$$.........
HOLY GUACAMOLE!
That is tons of sweet all piled in your driveway!
Yeah, those will look sublime and sound wicked when you finish. Take your time and do them right. Start calling around to drum stores and checking eBay for parts. I think I read you may have found some repro's... use those until you can find original (IMHO).
You could probably finance the entire kit and restoration by selling off the hardware / cymbals that you don't want.
Sweet find! Congrats!
Here's the snare I had to play it some last night so didn't snap pics and then wanted to play with the tuning a bit, play it then appease the the masses and my own curiosity. I really can't tell if it's solid or not, there is a thin layer of laminate on the inside that is lifting, there scarf joints on the inner rings are starting to pull, there's a nasty powdery mildew/mold and the bearing edges aren't revealing to me wether or not they a re a solid shell. it does look to me that it could be. I think the scarf on the main shell is solid.
My camera battery died I'll try and take some better pics later today.

I'm not sure how to deal with the mold, and will start formulating a plan, on what drum to start on first. I'm leaning toward the rack tom since it seems to be in the best condition, the snare next because I could use a good snare.
