$10? I'd feel guilty taking those from someone knowing what they are worth. Flip them another couple hundred..:)

For more info:

Rebeats.com can help you find the Gretsch Book.

There's a fellow on this forum, KCDrumDad (Rick Giers) that wrote the book on dating Gretsch and Ludwig, he may be able to help.

And, there are quite a few Gretsch experts frequenting this site.

That is the finest kind of find. You have a real treasure there. As someone mentioned above, you need two more stick choppers to make it right. Talk about getting into vintage drums with a bang (or is it a boom, or maybe a bop)!

I will check out that site for sure and order that book. So are die cast and stick choppers the same thing? If they aren't the same then what is the difference and do they produce a different sound?

Yes I got one awesome deal. It was actually only 10 bucks. They thought it was broken because the heads were torn and some of the lugs were missing. After searching for the remainding parts I am into it about 300. I still need to get die cast hoops. Do the die cast hoops make a big difference in the sound? Anywho here are a few pics. Thank you for the info.

There was a thread posted up here a while ago on which is "the best deal" you ever got ?"..

I think you may have won 1st prize !! Awesome score !
