Gadd always sounds like Gadd no matter who he's playing with, or what kind of music he's playing. You can close your eyes and always tell that it's Gadd playing. Such a unique touch and style on the drums. Like Clapton, or Gilmore on guitar, Gadd has a signature sound and feel on the drums that is all his own.

Too many great drums to list here!

I just recently learned the groove to "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover!" I never could seem to figure out the right way..the GADD way.. of doing it. Then I watched a video of him slowing it down, and it helped tremendously. You are right John, Gadd sounds like Gadd!

Wow way cool! I had no idea Steve was in the Army too. I guess a lot of us have done time at one point or another. I wish I would have been in the band and not the Infantry. Funny enough though I got award coins from Generals and full birds for playing drums as a Soldier on various details.

What year would this have been-guessing mid 60`s? He`s always been unique with lots of chops but it`s his groove timing that sets him apart and his imagination of originality for drum lines.

Wikipedia has it that he graduated from college in the late 60's and was drafted into the Army for 3 years. I don't know what the era of the drums are because the film is a bit unclear, but the sound of the snare sure seems to be Dynasonic.

As you have said above, his sound and approach is still what you hear to this day.
