I would imagine it would leak all over the place if you tried this, but it looks real. It was probably just put together for the sake of taking a quick photo.

It wouldn't be hard to do. Silicone sealer inside and to fill the air vent, cut out the center of the batter head and it's basically a 5 x 14 fish bowl. That's a nice fibes snare... classy home for few goldfish. I've seen worse things done to drums. Turning a vintage kit into a chandelier for one!
