Just thought I would shre some pics of my first vintage drum that started my addiction. It's a '58 E.W. Kent snare. What really got me was that it still has the E.W. Kent stamped heads on the top and bottom! I lived in Buffalo NY back in the late 60s and early 70s and I bought my first "real drumset" from the Kent factory in Kenmore NY which was only a couple miles from my house. So when I saw this drum I just had to get it. You all know how that goes!! Still waiting for my Ludwig Standard Avocado Strata kit. I'll share pics of them too.Coffee Break2

Thanks a lot. Great story and fine drum.
There are a lot of interesting features on that puppy.

Kent Drums was started by two brothers, both ex-employees of Gretsch.
I've owned a 50s Kent Snare drum and I have to say that I was really not impressed. It was single tension and I could never get that thing to tune correctly. Also, the single flange hoops would bend way to much from the tension of the claws.
At least they are nice to look at!!~

I'm not sure. But I did find a website where a person has posted a very good Kent drum history and on it he has a photo of what was the Kent factory building which is still there too.
