So, I have a pair of early LP Tito Puente Timbales. I am looking for additional info on possible year produced as well as value. Should I polish and clean them up or should I leave the natural patina.

Sorry i`m no expert here but that`s a tough call(leave em`alone vs. polishing up).I think they`d look amazing polished up.As to the year and value...i`ll let the experts chime in.Funny you posted these as i have a set of 1968 Rogers Timbales that i`ll be asking questions about on here shortly.Good luck with your decision Gabematt74.

Gabematt74-i`m very surprised that you haven`t had more of the guys on the forum vouching their opnions on your timbales. There must not be very many guys here that have them or you`d think somebody would have chimed in by now.Have you researched these timbales yourself and what info do you have on them so far?

Here are my LP Tito Puente Timbales I purchased in 1980 for $350 new.

Mine have the copper LP Pallasades Park M Cohen badges on them. They are the Tito Puente model though.

Very nice timbales. I have used mine on many recordings.

I am going to polish mine up one day soon. Stainless Steel looks good cleaned up.

What you have there is a set of brass 1968 threw 1980's they are no longer made and highly sorted by Musicians and collectors today. I would Clean it up the platina in this case just causes it to loose value these drums today have a Value of $450.00 and more in good condition. Good condition I mean with stand , no rust , dents and all parts available.

Use paste rouge, found in any large hardware buffing pad and drill . make sure you do this out of the home or it will turn it black with all the dust.
