Does this looked re-wrapped? Last viewed: 7 minutes ago

My 2 Lincolns...

Slingerland did have an "Artist" model SD with a solid maple shell available in the 1967 catalog. However, as already noted the grommet is not right and neither is the badge -- it should be black/brass and not black/silver.

So, if this drum is a 1968, the badge for whatever reason has been "tampered" with.

Now, as for the wrap... don't seem to have much fading of any kind for one that old. But, really can't tell on that...

I would venture as it's been re wrapped as this color doesn't exist in the color wrap guide, and the badge grommet is Not factory. and blair no re rings. here is the color swatches for the 80's . http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/images/finishes/slingerland/80_slingerland_back.jpg

Not sure if the seller updated his description, but he says it was re-wrapped in the 90's. So I would say yes...this is a re-wrap!

The reason he updated the ad is because I sent him a message saying the wrap looks newer to me. Then he says "Oh yeah, I forgot the guy that sold it to me re-wrapped it and I didn't think that was important?" so I said to him you better let bidders know, this is a HUGE factor and IS important, I also asked about the badge he knew nothing about it, so he's either playing dumb, or is just clueless.

This is a Gretsch-era Slingerland drum from the mid 80's as stated before. If it was a 1968, the WMP pattern would be larger AND there would be a Leedy Broadway style butt end on it rather than a regular student style butt plate. Definitely NOT as advertised or worth as much as one from 1968. Also, the shell appears to be a 5-ply shell without re-rings......
