I stopped selling here after being harassed by Johnnyringo about price for a kit that actually sold for more than i was asking here. I don;t need that kind of aggravation trying to sell stuff here.

well, I have met some unfortunate financial circumstances and need to sell close to all my collection.

I would like to list stuff for sale here but not if I am going to be harassed again.

What is the climate here these days for selling? Are people controlling themselves and respecting others sales? or still pulling the "your price is too high" BS?

Haven't seen much lately, and if he does show up, as the mods to remove is post."hitnrun" is another one look out for. But he mostly goes after me and RogerSling, since we biocth-slapped around the forum backroom...

Unless I'm mistaken I believe that one of the moderators (TommyP?) respectfully requested all VDF members to refrain from making comments in regard to respective asking prices. It seems like for the most part the request has been honored. Personally I never understood the "your price is too high" comment. I've never been of the opinion that one individual is in the position to be speaking for all. Just my 2 cents. Good luck with your future sales!

I'd say definitely list your stuff and ask what you want. It is much better than those guys that list with "make an offer" and no price. I'm more likely to make an offer on something that i believe is overpriced than something that has no price!

Plus, you can ask whatever you feel is the value of the drums/cymbals... just the same as someone can make you an offer of what they feel it is worth to them. As long as we all stay cool and respectful, then we can keep these forums fun and full of drums!

I started selling stuff (from time to time, not really regularly) on the forum just a few months ago... and I've not gotten any "flack" from forum members.

However, I do sell on eBay regularly (haven't for about a month though) and HAVE gotten "questions" along those lines. I also used to try to sell through CL -- and got more "flack" through there than positive responses.

One set in particular brought me a LOT of grief (through CL & eBay): I took a set of "orphan" 60s Ludwig shells and put them together and rewrapped them in 60s BOP. I had several tell me my asking price (BIN of $1099.99 + shipping) was unreasonable and I'd never get it. Then of course I had with those "opinions" several "low-ball" offers: $400, $450, etc. Well, it took listing it 3 times, but it did sell at the BIN price. And, I got 5-star DSRs from the seller! So, HE was happy and of course I was happy and that's all that really counts, right!

So, IMO, even from VDF members, if they don't like your price, so what? I'm of a mind that sometimes people are just hoping to "low-ball" you and "shame" you into it!

And, IF a VDF member has a serious concern about someone's price, wouldn't it be BEST to be handled by a PM? I've offered "correction" suggestions a couple of times on here, because I'm trying to offer positive help and NOT trying to make someone look stupid or something...

Just my :2Cents:

Sorry to hear that Ben. I haven't had any issues here, but take FULL advantage of the IGNORE feature of the site! I agree that this site has more than it's share of instant experts & self-serving individuals, but most of the guys here are great to deal with. I've been looking at your work for a long time & have no idea why anyone would question anything you put up. I had this same problem with a "Rogers" stalker on eBay...I know this pri@k was trying to low-ball me or sabotage my auction...more than likely a member here of some sort.

Just put your stuff up & if someone annoys you, go to your personal info section & setup your interface to ignore the SOB's! Yes Sir

Sorry to hear your selling your collection. You can close your thread after you post it and have people reply to you via PM or email. That is one of the options here. You can also reopen the thread to comments/questions if you feel like it.

Thanks for the replies.

The ignore feature unfortunately doesn't do anything to help a seller's reputation if someone is trying to discredit them. That is not a solution for me.

I know too that I could list and close a thread to comment, but that's not really the kind of sale I want to run.

I guess I'll go ahead but if I end up harassed again will just pull the sales.

Post it, ignore pinhead comments (as with any forum, there is going to be some of those from time to time). Best of luck brother!
